Message Charge should be only slightly higher than ambient. The cooler you keep the air the less a hot part can heat it up. Yes the intake is going to heat the air a little, but if that air is still cool when it hits the hot intake it has less time to heat up before it gets to the cylinder. (an interesting side not is that the New Nissan motors have Composite intake runners rather than metal, I wonder if this is part of the reason?)

I am not sure what to think about the Idea of the Hard pipes getting hot and heating the air charge. Rather I should say I'm not sure if it will affect my decision to get them or not. Yes it is definately possible and actually very likely that they are becoming an "interheater" that looks nice. One way around this would be to use a hood similar to the border hood that has very good airflow through the engine compartment.

I think for drag racers it would work the other way too. Icing the hard pipes would be another way to cool the intake charge, just like icing the intake manifold.
